With spring fever in full tilt, we have survived yet another week of the proverbial grind. Lessons learned, goals accomplished and plans laid.

Phase I of the move is underway:
I don’t want to divulge too much information at this point except for that we are undergoing a move within the next few months. We’ll keep you posted with updates and photos as things progress.

New Shoes
Part of a two pair deal, the first (shown below) was done up with some simple varsity lettering and vintage dressing.
The next pair will be accompanied by a video outlining the process and presentation of the shoes at an event held in Minneapolis on April 4th. More on that as the event approaches.

Style and Trend Update
As tradeshow week wraps, so begins the endless commentary regarding upcoming trends and styles. One key observation: The streetwear scene is changing drastically. What was once an industry of graphic tees, obnoxious sneakers, bold logos, bright colors and loud statements has since evolved into a more ‘grown up’, classical Americana look; Rolled hard denims, boots, flannels, shawl-collar cardigans, neutral colors and name-free pieces. Although the traditional streetwear aesthetic remains with companies like The Hundreds, the game is changing, what will you do?

JGoods ‘Purple Jesus Tee’

In August of 2007, Drew Magary of the blog Kissing Suzy Kolbert coined the nickname “Purple Jesus” for the Vikings’ rookie RB. Though it’s yet to be determined if All Day AP has the ability to turn water into wine, he is already recognized as one of the greatest backs of all time and he legitimately has been a savior for the Purple. (A savior that can go beast mode all over your ass when he sees fit.) The reference here is pretty obvious, but just in case–if you’ve ever seen pretty much anything that features Rio de Janeiro, it’s likely you’ve seen the 130-foot “El Cristo Redentor” statue that overlooks the city. We fully expect our version of that statue to be built somewhere in the Twin Cities within the next 10 years.

Shirts feature a one color print on the front, two color print on the back, and gold “Purple Jesus” logo on right sleeve. Printed on a premium white or purple cotton tee.

Holiday 2009 Gift Guide

Since my travel plans have been hosed by the blizzard outside, I have decided to form a list to carry around just in case anyone asks me what I want for the Holidays this year. In doing so, I figured I would do my best to help out anyone else who has a difficult time coming up with things they don’t really need.
Because this doubles as a buyer’s guide and MY personal list, I don’t know a great deal about all of the items featured on this list. In other words, these are not product reviews and my suggestions could turn out to be complete pieces of shit. My gift guide will not feature ~~any~~ too many obscure items and will not contain any absurdly expensive ideas. Lettuce begin.

Magic Mouse (69) : If it’s got ‘magic’ in the product name, it has to be good. The world’s first Bluetooth-enabled multi-touch mouse will be on my desk soon.

Motorola Droid for Verizon (199+) : Time made their list of Gadgets of the Year and it looks like the Droid came out on top. If you’re like me and have an existing contract with Verizon, expect to pay an amusing amount to get your hands on one of these.

Air Jordan Jordan XI Space Jam (175) : Perhaps the most anticipated Jordan release in years is conveniently going to be released on the 23rd of December. If the sneakers make your list you may want to include a side-note explaining that said buyer should plan on arriving to the shoe store early and can expect a line.

Petzl Tikka Plus 2 Headlamp (40) : There were at least 3 times last year when I thought , “man, I really wish I had a headlamp right now.” Never again.

Cookin’ with Coolio: 5 Star Meals at a 1 Star Price (16) : I don’t expect this to be as helpful as it is entertaining. Coolio continues to live in a gangster’s paradise by writing cookbooks, containing his self-described “ghetto gourmet” dishes.

nook (259) : If you like to read, the nook is supposed to be the shit. “The world’s most advanced ebook reader.” Sold!

Stormy Kromer Hat (30) : “George “Stormy” Kromer was a semi-pro ballplayer and railroad engineer who always lost his hat to the gusts that blew through his locomotive. So he asked his wife, Ida, to put needle and thread to one of his old baseball caps. The “Kromer” they created in 1903 is now legendary for its comfort, warmth, durability… and grip when the wind blows.” I just copied that from the patch inside my hat. You should get one.

Netflix Account (9 a month) : Unlimited DVD rentals and movies streaming instantly to your computer and TV. Best gift ever.

Andis Outliner II Trimmer (72) : You can’t always make it to the barbershop. I haven’t been in 5 years now.

Suck UK Smoking Mittens (25) : Remember kids smoking is not big or clever and it WILL kill you, but if you want to die you may as well die with warm hands!

JGoods Sneaker Restoration Kit (35) : Because I couldn’t let you escape without a shameless ploy for the hottest selling gift sure to make anyone’s holiday season one they won’t soon forget.

There you have it. My Holiday… fuck its difficult not to use ‘Christmas’. This is my Christmas list/Holiday Gift Guide, take it or leave it.

Clothing Brand Feature: Muntasir

When we were at the MAGIC Show last August, we had the pleasure of checking out a lot of new brands. One of the brands we really liked was called Muntasir. Their tag line is the “Evolution of Urban Couture”. They aim to break the mold in today’s streetwear market by offering unique and conversational pieces.

Their pieces are very creative, but my favorite part of Muntasir is their quality. Their tees are ultra heavyweight cotton and their clothing boxes are hand-painted with the Muntasir logo. I’m more of a tee shirt dude so my favorite pieces were their tees. My two favorite pieces are below. More info at Muntasir’s website.

The Retro Court shirt line calls back the golden era of everyone’s long-haired (long-wigged?) tennis player from the 1990’s. All three of these shirts are inspired by some of the greatest pieces from his wardrobe.
