The frost on the ground and the perpetual overcast leads me to believe that winter has arrived in MN. This is a sad time as I am forced to pack up many of my favorite sneakers until next spring so as to protect them from snow, sleet, road salt and countless other awful things that coincide with the dreadful winters in Minnesota. With the loss of many rotation staples, I am forced to resort to those shoes more willing and able to stand up to the elements. Since I can’t (don’t want to) wear Timberlands and Sorrels all winter, I look for those sneakers more suitable for the frigid temperatures and sloppy sidewalks. So far this winter I must say my front runner is the Nike Dunk High “Athletics North.” This sneaker features a buttery black premium leather upper with a nubuck check set on top of a clear gum sole. The subtle colorway is headlined by wool detailing around the ankle for added warmth and styling. Currently unavailable in the states, these sneakers are hard to find. Our friends at Caliroots just restocked so hurry over if you plan on grabbing a pair. Stay tuned for more Winter sneaker specials in the coming weeks as I sink further and further into my seasonal depression.
