The Rise and Slow Fall of Entourage

Entourage has been one of my favorite shows on HBO for a long time. It started with a creative and unique idea, and grew to something where a lot of kids wanted live their life vicariously through Vince. I even find myself thinking during a couple episodes, “Man, I wish I had Aston Martins and a small, quick talking manservant.”

Unfortunately, ever since the middle of the fourth season, the plot of each episode is eerily similar. Here is the rundown:

1.) Vince is broke, but not really.

2.) Ari is trying to find a job for Vince but he wants to do something different.

3.) How can the guys from Queens make that work?

4.) There is no way it can work.

5.) Oh wait, Vince can do some appearance that will make him a million dollars.

6.) No, that didn’t work either because it a) Conflicted with Vince’s morals or b) One of the guys messed it up. No million dollars for Vince.

7.) But wait again! There might be a way to get Vince’s dream project. Tune in next time.

8.) Repeat.

This is usually mixed in with with an appearance from Lil’ Bow Wow or T.I.

I am not completely hating on the show because there is only so much you can write about when a person doesn’t have any real problems. He has sex with any girl he wants and if all else fails, he’ll do “Snow Dogs” with Cuba Gooding, Jr. for $3 million. No big deal.

So now you may be asking, “Why do you still watch the show?” One word. Drama.

Drama is hilarious. Almost everything he says is classic and I sit through the pointless plot in order to hear Drama’s views on the situation.

To the writers of the show: Do something different. Have Vince get addicted to crack and contract an STD. Have E try to fraud all of his clients to pay for new Aston Martins. Have Soulja Boy hire Turtle as ring tone consultant. I don’t know, make something happen. The shit’s gone stagnant.

You hit it on the head. Ask yourself why Larry Charles left after the second season?
