Dr. James N. Romanelli is a board-certified plastic surgeon in private practice since 1990. He is the chief of surgery at Huntington Hospital in Huntington, N.Y. Dr. Romanelli received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1978 and his medical degree from SUNY Downstate in 1982. He then completed eight years of post-graduate specialty training in general surgery, plastic surgery, and hand surgery. An exceptionally talented and skilled cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Romanelli is pleased to offer his patients the personalized, attentive care they deserve.

This is the guy I’m talking about. And everything you need to know about him is present on that site. And to be honest with you…what he does with clothing is truly something special. Much like a good shoe customizer (shameless advertising) can take a plain shoe and turn it into something else entirely, Dr. Romanelli can take entire pieces of clothing, deconstruct them, and turn them into damn near pieces of art.

I’ve been an admirer of the guy for a while, but I figured with his Huf collection just coming out, and this blog turning into a one-stop shop for hypebeast props and criticism, it was worth giving the man and the brand some respect. A few pieces from the collaboration with Huf:

I fucking love the hunting concept present in all of this stuff. Not only does he keep an interesting theme going over a lot of different pieces of clothing, but for a dude such as myself, who has lived right in the middle of buck hunting country his entire life…this is pretty goddamn cool. (And who cares that the closest I’ve gotten to killing a deer is Big Buck Hunter? Who are you to judge me?!)

All in all, I can absolutely appreciate that Dr. Romanelli makes jackets that are basically the definition of “outside the box”. It’s obvious he puts a lot of thought into his work, and thus is very deserving of some propers courtesy of this insignificant little blog.
