The Sneaker Culture

Since this blog’s inception (roughly two weeks ago), we’ve tried to bring you the good and the bad from the world of shoes. As any sneakerhead worth his/her weight in brightly colored Dunks knows…the bad overshadows the good too often these days.

Right about now would be a great time for me to offer up never before seen pictures of the shoe that is going to change the sneaker industry as we know it, as its beauty and awesomeness gives new hope to Hundreds-clad kids worldwide!!

Unfortunately, that is not the case.

You see, there is another thing that this blog is: honest. We are going to tell you what we think of shoes and/or incredibly shameless and unconscionably ugly marketing ploys. We don’t get press releases, we don’t get free stuff. We tell you what we think.

Ladies and gentleman, I give you…

I am going to continue be honest and tell you: I see what they tried to do here. I honestly do. Twenty years of one video game is no doubt impressive. They wanted to commemorate that fact. No shame in that.

But come on.

Those things are hideous. That’s the best you could come up with?! The covers of the past incarnations of Madden plus some X and O drawn out plays?? EA Sports has put out very decent shoes in the past. Simple. Classy.

Not gaudy and stupid.

Even still though, even WITH the horribleness of the above design, these are still redeemable if they are just gonna put ‘em out so the diehard Madden fans can get their hands on them. (And my God…what a fan you’d have to be to want these in your possession.)

Okay, never mind.

Rumor has it that these will be extremely limited and not released to the public – which could make it an extra hot item, because of its appeal to video game collectors as well.

These are a shoe that any Joe Schmoe that actually would want them should be able to find at his local Foot Locker (Payless?). Why limit them (other than to try to keep them out of the public eye as best you can)?

*Sigh*. It pains me to write a post like this as much as it pains you to look at the shoes. Unfortunately for both of us…there’s plenty more manufactured hype to be spread around!!
